The Trump Regime Just Arrested Don Lemon

Today is a new low for not only the Trump administration but for America.

Former CNN journalist and friend of the show Don Lemon was just arrested by the Trump administration for legal actions that he took as a journalist. We have been saying for a while that independent journalism was the one variable the administration did not consider. We have been pulling hundreds of millions of views pushing the truth. Now the administration is scared.

They are scared of what we are building and they are trying to strip away our constitutional rights to report on the ground.

Don Lemon was taken into custody overnight in Los Angeles where he was covering the Grammy awards. Attorney General Pam Bondi released a statement directly claiming that she is the one who ordered this.

Bondi said: “At my direction, early this morning federal agents arrested Don Lemon, Trahern Jeen Crews, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lydell Lundy in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul”.

How many units do you need to take Don Lemon? He was probably in his slippers about to go to bed.

Here is where it gets absolutely insane. The Trump administration is invoking a Reconstruction-era law meant to protect Black people from the KKK to charge Don Lemon.

They are charging him under Section 241 which is a statute designed to safeguard the rights of Black Americans to worship and vote amid terror from the Klan. Think about the irony. They are using an anti-KKK law to arrest a Black journalist.

They are also charging him under the FACE Act which is meant to protect abortion clinics and churches from violent obstruction. But Don Lemon wasn’t obstructing anything.

The Trump administration finds itself in a trap here because a federal judge already told them they couldn’t do this. A federal magistrate judge reviewed the case weeks ago and rejected the arrest warrant for Don Lemon. The judge threw out the cases against Lemon because there was no evidence of wrongdoing.

The Department of Justice then tried to bully a federal appeals court to force the judge to issue the warrant. The judge declined again. But the administration didn’t care. They went around the judge and arrested him anyway.

Don Lemon was at that church in St. Paul to do his job. He was there to report on a protest against an ICE official who was identified as the pastor. When you actually watch the footage Don Lemon wasn’t chanting or destroying property. He was interviewing the people inside the church.

He was giving a platform to the people who were against the protest. He asked them for their perspective. That is Journalism 101.

As his lawyer Abbe Lowell said: “Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done”.

Why are they doing this? They are doing this to distract you.

Instead of investigating the federal agents who executed Renee Good and Alex Prey the Trump DOJ is devoting its time to arresting journalists. They called Renee Good a “domestic terrorist.” They called Alex Prey an “assassin.” Now they are treating Don Lemon like a terrorist.

They want to silence him. They want to create a chilling effect for other journalists. And they want you to stop talking about their botched cover up in Minnesota.
