Trump Tried to Humiliate a Union Worker and Lost
The Ford worker, the UAW, and the public proved him wrong
Donald Trump flipping off a Ford worker for calling him a “pedophile protector” managed to do what Trump does best lately: blow up in his own face almost immediately. Within 24 hours, the worker was suspended by Ford, the internet rallied around him, and a fundraiser shot up to nearly half a million dollars. Then the United Auto Workers stepped in and publicly backed the worker. If Trump thought throwing up the middle finger would intimidate people, he miscalculated badly.
That moment did not happen in isolation. While Trump was busy reacting like a thin-skinned teenager, protests were growing across the country. Minneapolis, New York, and other cities saw massive crowds. And no, these were not “paid agitators,” no matter how desperately this administration wants that narrative to stick. These were ordinary Americans exercising their First Amendment rights. You could literally see signs that looked like something someone made at their kitchen table. That is not an astroturf operation. That is civic anger.
In Minneapolis alone, the crowd stretched on and on. The camera panned, and it just kept going. This is what real dissent looks like. And to make the whole thing even more absurd, ICE agents were caught on video slipping all over frozen streets. Mobilizing thousands of agents in the middle of winter, during icy conditions, was exactly as competent as it sounds. Every visual from this administration lately feels like unintentional satire.
At the same time all of this was unfolding, Trump was also striking out on the world stage. After months of posturing about Greenland, his administration met with Danish officials. The result? A “fundamental disagreement.” Denmark made it clear they are not on board with Trump’s fantasies of annexation or takeover. Instead of backing down, Trump keeps pushing this idea that NATO should somehow help the United States acquire Greenland, which is completely detached from reality.
Here is the part that should really bother people. Denmark is already a U.S. ally. Greenland already hosts U.S. troops. If Trump wanted to talk about security cooperation or increased presence in the Arctic, that conversation already exists. But that is not what he is doing. He is floating annexation, refusing to rule it out, and forcing allied countries to respond defensively. Denmark is now boosting its military presence. Germany is sending troops to the region. Trump did not move the ball forward. He pushed it backward.
And while he is obsessed with Greenland, ask yourself this: how many times has Trump talked about Greenland compared to healthcare? Compared to inflation? Compared to the cost of living that is crushing families right now? “America First” somehow keeps translating into everything except helping Americans.
That brings us back to the Ford worker. A union worker shouted a political opinion. He got suspended. The president of the United States responded by mouthing “f you” and flipping him off. Imagine for half a second if a Democratic president did that. If Gavin Newsom flipped the bird at a MAGA voter on camera, right-wing media would melt down for weeks. But in this case, it barely registers outside of independent media
The United Auto Workers did not mince words. They made it clear they stand with their member, that they believe in free speech, and that workers should never be subjected to vulgar language or behavior by anyone, including the president of the United States. That line matters. The power imbalance here is staggering. A worker risks his livelihood for speaking out. The president faces virtually no consequences for acting like this.
And then came the real backfire. The fundraiser exploded. Over $320,000 raised for a guy whose “crime” was calling out the president (here’s his GoFundMe). Compare that to the last big political GoFundMe people remember, which involved someone using a racial slur and being rewarded for it. This time, people rallied around a worker expressing his free speech and demanding accountability.
This is the pattern now. The more this administration lashes out, the more it tries to bully, the more it tries to cover things up, the more it backfires. We see it with ICE protests. We see it with foreign policy embarrassments. We see it with workers standing up and being backed by the public when Trump crosses the line.
For once, it is not the cruelty that is being rewarded. It is the pushback. And that alone tells you just how badly this presidency is losing control of the narrative.

ALL decent, intelligent Americans are giving Trump the finger 24/7
He treats his own citizens, no matter the skin color, as servants TO HIM. He’s got it backwards, so turn that finger BACK AT YA!
