Trump Shatters The GOP With Greenland Threat
Republicans are saying it out loud
Something is breaking inside the Republican Party, and for once, it’s not subtle.
A Republican congressman just went on TV and said the quiet part out loud. If Donald Trump seriously tries to invade or use military force against Greenland, Republicans would move to impeach him.
That alone tells you how far off the rails this has gone.
Greenland is not an enemy. It’s tied to Denmark. Denmark is a NATO ally. We already have U.S. troops and bases there. We’ve been working with them since World War II. This is not some hostile regime. This is a country that has fought alongside us.
And yet Trump keeps threatening it. Talking about leverage. Talking about force. Talking about “needing” Greenland for national security like he’s negotiating a real estate deal.
While Americans are worried about healthcare, rent, and inflation, Trump is standing outside the White House fantasizing about bullying a NATO ally.
What makes this different is that Republicans are finally saying no.
One of them straight up said invading Greenland would be a high crime and misdemeanor. Not a policy disagreement. Not a bad idea. A reason to remove the president.
That matters because Trump’s grip on Congress is already slipping. Republicans barely have a majority. One seat. That’s it. And that margin is shrinking thanks to resignations, deaths, and internal chaos. They have no room for error.
One Republican flipping is enough to blow the whole thing up.
At the same time, Trump’s inner circle is doing something even scarier. JD Vance is out here claiming the War Powers Act is fake. He’s arguing that the president can just go to war without Congress approving it.
That’s not normal conservative rhetoric. That’s strongman logic.
And the timing is awful. Trump is escalating abroad. Venezuela. Threats toward Greenland. Other conflicts simmering. While his allies argue he should be allowed to do all of this alone, unchecked.
Even Republicans in the Senate are pushing back. Not because they suddenly grew a conscience, but because this is reckless. It would destroy alliances, cost billions, and permanently damage America’s standing in the world.
And voters see it.
Most Americans oppose taking Greenland. A majority think Trump has gone too far with foreign power grabs. Even half of Republicans say no. That is catastrophic polling for a president already hanging by a thread.
Here’s the part Trump doesn’t seem to understand. NATO isn’t optional. Article 5 is the entire point. If the United States attacks a NATO ally, the alliance collapses. The post–World War II order collapses with it.
That doesn’t make America stronger. It makes the world more dangerous. It invites aggression from Russia. It invites aggression from China. It pushes Europe into full defensive mode. That’s how global wars start.
And while all of this is happening, Trump is casually floating the idea of canceling elections.
When asked about it, his team says he was joking.
That excuse is insulting. This is a man who already tried to overturn an election. A man who attacked mail-in voting. A man who sent a mob to the Capitol. There is no such thing as “just joking” about canceling elections when that’s your track record.
So here’s the reality.
Republicans in power are finally admitting what everyone else has known for a long time. Trump isn’t just controversial. He’s dangerous. And if he crosses certain lines, even they won’t protect him.
When Republicans start talking openly about impeachment, the collapse is already underway.
And Trump is the one pushing it there.

Trump’s threats to Denmark mark the end of the relatively peaceful world enjoyed since the Cold War’s end. The damage to the US’s international presence and domestic economy will prevent it from leading the free world regardless of the next election’s outcome. Our only hope lies in a rapid expansion of European influence on the global stage. Stopping Trump now is unlikely to alter the course this administration has set for the world.
God, If only this time they hold him accountable.
