How do you define fascism? I believe until the concept is defined cleanly and clearly to any audience, the speaker's message is impeded. Speak to the dog in the language of the dog is a worthy consideration for marketers and influencers; journalists, too.
The concept has always been perfectly defined, for almost an entire century now. "Fasces" means "bundle", in Latin. Fascism is a political governance system in which the executive branch of government bundles the power of the legislative and judicial branches into its own power. That's EXACTLY what the GOP is doing today. It's exactly what their main think tank, the Heritage Foundation, explained in detail it would do (in Project 2025). And it's what neofascist tech billionaires such as Peter Thiel have been advocating for for years already.
The only way to save democracy is for "we the people" to urgently study the basics of fascism - or at least, for the 48% who today still believe that that is not what the GOP is doing to the country right now.

It's so important to get the truth out. I have all the lies that I can handle for the rest of my life. We need to get all the corrupt politicians out of office. Every single one of them. They didn't get in to do their jobs and preserve our country, they went in to see who could lie the most and tear our country down. I do not think the honest people are going to let that happen. We will get rid of them and get honest politicians, that believe in our Constitution and Democracy. Then we can start building our country again.
Shari Redstone had been fighting the Trump lawsuit against '60 minutes' from the time it was filed. The loophole that Trump found - Shari Redstone had already started the process of a merger with Skydance Media before the election (July 2024). After getting through the first hurdles with the SEC, Trump had not been inaugurated as yet. But, Shari Redstone cannot pull out of the merger because it is in the tube and the FCC is now in charge.
The lawsuit is not settled, which is a black cloud hanging over Shari Redstone. Trump is in charge of the loyalist at the FCC who is holding her future in the balance. He's mad. She cannot withdraw from the merger. Trump won't settle until and unless he gets what he wants. He hasn't settled even yet, so he may not be done exacting his 100 pounds of flesh. Shari Redstone is now between a rock and a hard place. Trump fully intends to get even regardless of what Shari Redstone does - but she is to blame for failing to do something that she could not afford to do - rock and a hard place.
My guess is that Trump will settle with Paramount Global and then let the clock run out on the merger (October 7th) costing Shari Redstone 400 million dollars in fines and no merger to pay for it. Skydance is owned by a Democrat. Trump is not going to allow Skydance to own CBS.
If Shari Redstone had not tried to sell Paramount last Summer before the election, this would never have become a choice between trying to placate an imbecile child throwing a temper tantrum who is holding all the cards. Paramount probably would have gone to court against Trump and won on the merits and we would not be sitting here thinking ill of Shari Redstone. But that is not what happened.
I am sure there are more details, and that the Paramount Global deal is more complex than I have explained it. I encourage anyone and everyone to research this issue further before demonizing Shari for any steps she took. Then if she deserves to be demonized, so be it.
