According to them, you can only get a medical deferment once you are called up and attend your induction physical at which point that doctor is the one that decides whether there or not you get a deferment. Of course, CadetBonespurs got five deferments. Does that mean therefore that he received five actual draft notices and went to the draft board location for his PHYSICAL to get said five deferments?
I told them that if my son ever got a draft notice, I would go with him of necessity, but bring a reporter and photographer to document the ridiculousness of the situation.
Really, it was one of those circumstances in the life of parents of handicapped children at which you don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
