MAGA’s Racist Meltdown Just Exposed What We Already Knew
How MAGA extremists weaponize Islamophobia to divide America and why we must fight back.
My grandfather moved to America from Syria in the late 1980s. My father is Muslim, as is most of my extended family. Growing up, I heard stories from my grandmother about the rampant Islamophobia they faced after 9/11, being shouted at in public, subjected to hostile stares, and facing discrimination simply because of their faith.
As a member of Gen Z, I genuinely believed we had moved past this kind of open bigotry. But apparently, I was wrong.
Just look at the grotesque reaction from Marjorie Taylor Greene and her fellow MAGA extremists following Zohran Mamdani’s recent election win in New York City. Greene posted an appalling image of the Statue of Liberty in a full-body burka, paired with a vile caption:
“New York City has fallen. The demonic sounds of Islamic prayer calls will soon be heard throughout the streets, the trash will pile higher than ever. Jews and Christians will be hated…New York City will be the next London.”
This isn't subtle political commentary. It's outright racism and xenophobia. And it didn’t stop there. Laura Loomer openly suggested another 9/11 was imminent, explicitly blaming it on Zohran's election. Others warned New York would turn "full-on Jihadi Marxist.”
Charlie Kirk piled on, tweeting:
“In 9/11, 2,700 people died. Now we elected someone, and this is supposed to be beautiful?”
This is beyond disturbing. New Yorkers coming together to elect Zohran, who advocates policies aimed at uplifting families through no-cost childcare, guaranteed baby baskets, affordable housing, and a fair minimum wage, is a testament to our city’s resilience, growth, and unity in diversity.
Yet Kirk and Greene weaponize tragedy and fear to divide us further, peddling dangerous lies meant to stoke hatred.
Their hateful rhetoric shows us plainly who they really are: politicians who thrive off division, fear, and racism. Their panic isn't about policy. It's about their inability to comprehend a diverse, compassionate future where politics isn't driven by bigotry.
We can't let their hate drown out progress. We're better than this, and our response should be clear: reject hate, embrace unity, and support those fighting to build a fairer future for all.
If you're as disgusted as I am, please consider supporting my work as a paid subscriber. Together, we can drown out their hatred with hope and action.
