Republican's biggest myth just died
From Adam Mockler
I said this on X earlier today, and MAGA was absolutely outraged. But honestly? It is undeniably true, and we need to stop being afraid to point it out.
Republicans are the party of the deficit, and Democrats need to say it out loud.
For the past decade, the Democratic Party has been largely defined by our opposition to Donald Trump. But as we navigate the current political landscape, we are seeing some incredible new players on the scene who are building their own affirmative vision for the country. We are seeing what happens when you actually prioritize the working class over massive corporations.
The Masterclass in Effective Governance
Look no further than what is happening right now in New York City. Mayor Zohran Mamdani has been in office for about five and a half months, and he is absolutely crushing it.
When Mamdani took office on January 1st, he inherited a massive $12 billion budget deficit. We are talking about a fiscal crisis at a scale greater than the Great Recession. The traditional political playbook, the one pushed by the wealthy elites and corporate media, said the only way out was to slash services and pass an austerity budget.
Zohran completely rejected that. In just 132 days, his administration wiped that $12 billion budget deficit down to zero.
How did he do it?
He did not close the gap on the backs of working people. Instead, he did the following:
Taxed the Rich: He worked with Governor Kathy Hochul, State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie to bring in half a billion dollars a year.
Cut Waste: He cut unnecessary overtime and found smarter ways to deliver government services, saving another $1.77 billion.
Secured Universal Childcare: Partnered with Albany to lock in $1.2 billion in new funding for universal childcare.
Improved Daily Life: Fixed over 100,000 potholes, raised snow workers’ salaries to $30 an hour, froze rent, and aggressively went after corrupt landlords.
Violent crime in the city has hit historic lows. Call it pothole politics, call it democratic socialism, call it whatever you want. I just call it effective governance.
The Right Wing is PANICKING
Naturally, the right wing is terrified of this. Former Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard actually took to social media to call Mamdani a “lunatic.” My friend Kyle Kulinski from Secular Talk summed up the absurdity of this perfectly:
“The Republican mind is amazing. Zohran has been in the news for: 1. Balancing the budget without cutting services. 2. Raising taxes on the rich in a very common sense way. 3. Cracking down on shitty landlords. 4. Freezing the rent. 5. Universal child care. What exactly is lunatic about that? This guy supports a war criminal, con man. That is the actual lunatic here.”
Kyle is exactly right. This is exactly what wealthy elites and massive corporations are terrified of: a politician proving you can enhance the quality of life for your constituents not by taking away from the working class, but by taxing the rich.
A Tale of Two Visions
Now, let us draw a stark juxtaposition between Zohran Mamdani’s effective governance and the absolute chaos we are seeing on the national level from Donald Trump.
While Mamdani just balanced the budget of NYC, Trump is actively inflicting maximum damage on working Americans.
Trump has raised gas prices, spiked the cost of food, and cut healthcare access.
The national deficit is actually higher right now than when Trump got into office.
He is currently on a massive spending spree for the biggest defense budget in American history, all while simultaneously dragging us into a deeply costly war in Iran.
Remember when Trump appointed Elon Musk to run that entire DOGE apparatus to cut cost overruns? They failed miserably. They did absolutely none of that. Instead, Trump is squeezing the average American dry to fund the military industrial complex and enrich his billionaire buddies. He admitted himself he does not even think about the average American’s financial situation.
We have a decrepit president who represents the past and centralized wealth, trying to crush the average American. On the flip side, we have Democrats proving that you can actually balance a budget, provide universal childcare, and make the streets safer without screwing over the working class.
It is Time to WIN.
Democrats need to copy the Mamdani style. We need to proudly champion this vision. Republicans are blowing up the deficit to fund forever wars and tax cuts for billionaires, while Democrats are taxing the rich to fix potholes, freeze rent, and balance the checkbook.
It is time to say it out loud, and it is time to win.

Republicans want us poor because we are easier to control if we are working 3 jobs and don't have time to pay attention to their corruption.
Agree 100%!!!
