How do people claim to be protecting ‘freedom of speech’ without understanding what it means? The ORIGINAL definition of freedom of speech (which protects you from being punished by your government for not agreeing with your government) INCLUDES limitations, specifically any hate speech and incitement to violence. All freedoms have limitations. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can say what you like without consequence - it never has. Pure ignorance.

Freedom of speech stops at instigating violence, ie - the Supreme Court has said a person can’t go into a crowded theater and shout fire just for the fun of it, for obvious reasons - a panicked exit could cause injury or worse.
