Jack Teixeira, a former Massachusetts Air National Guardsman, was arrested in April 2023 and subsequently sentenced to 15 years in prison for leaking classified Pentagon documents. He had shared the documents online, including on the Discord server Thug Shaker Central, with various military enthusiasts. The leak exposed sensitive information about the war in Ukraine, including troop movements and U.S. aid to Ukraine.

Hegseth's assigned mission is to purge the Pentagon of anyone who might ignore their Duty to Disobey (a real duty spelled out in the MCC) when Trump decides to declare martial law and turn US troops into Trump's Gestapo. Trump doesn't really care about efficient management of Pentagon activities as long as there's a scapegoat there for him to point to when it hits the fan. Goose-steppers for his personal power parade can stay, of course.
