Prices started rising dramatically back then as companies lost money due to the shutdown of our country and government. It wasn’t our fault but we’ve been punished by our government and corporate greed ever since. Everything is higher but just one example is we could buy a 2 liter bottle of soda for $1.00, now it’s $2.75 for one 20 ounce soda at every gas station everywhere. Might be a bad example but is just one back when fountain drinks came popular the convenience store was making $29 to $30,000 off of sodas alone each and every month at the $.79 cents for each one. Now look at the massive profits they’re making off regular soda bottles. It’s the same with groceries they’ve gone up according to experts due to the rise of diesel fuel yet when diesel prices dropped nothing dropped at grocery stores they stayed the same or rose in cost. Each and everytime this happened it was the exact same. The other day I had a wild thought of having a meal I love and went to my local Sam’s Club bought sausage on a large package it was $6.29 which I thought was not too bad. I then had to go to a local grocery for two heads of cabbage to cook with the sausage. It was $.94 cents a pound for cabbage. Ended up costing me $7.00 for the cabbage by itself. I was able to eat twice and I shared one serving with a friend who didn’t eat that much of it. I can forget about having spaghetti and meat sauce last time I made that it cost me $35.00 for a simple dinner. I’m single and live on a strict budget for my groceries and those two meals enough to eat on for one week cost me over $50.00 dollars for less than a week of eating. I live on social security and get paid monthly. I pay a mortgage pay utilities on my home insurance for my paid off vehicles and credit cards I have to use due to the high cost of everything and then 28% interest on the money I have to borrow off credit debt to survive. How can we lower the cost to where people can survive without paying through the nose . I’ve boycotted many of the corporations like Kraft foods for example. I’m only one person but I can live without their foods and they can kiss where the sun doesn’t shine for all I care but we need a break
