Here’s Exactly How Trump’s Iran Plan Backfired
Trump promised peace. Instead, he reignited a nuclear crisis and trapped America in another war.

Donald Trump believed he could replay his 2020 strategy. Back then he ordered the assassination of Qasem Soleimani. Iran responded with symbolic missile strikes, no American casualties, and no escalation. Trump spun it as a successful show of strength. He assumed history would repeat itself when he authorized airstrikes on Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on June 22 as part of Operation Midnight Hammer. He claimed the mission obliterated Iran’s nuclear program, coined it the “12 Day War,” and left for the NATO summit to bask in a premature victory.
That victory vanished almost immediately. Pentagon and allied intelligence assessments, including a report from the Defense Intelligence Agency, confirm that damage to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure was limited. Uranium stockpiles were untouched. Fordow remained operational beneath layers of hard rock. The program was delayed by mere months—far from destroyed. Trump declared the results “fake news” and slammed leaks as politically motivated. Still, lawmakers inside Washington described the decision to withhold classified briefings until after the NATO summit as reckless.
On June 23 Iran struck back. Operation Glad Tidings of Victory targeted Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar with six missiles; one slipped through and struck within base perimeters. No U.S. casualties were reported. The U.S. responded with air defense, a ceasefire was announced and then broken. Further missile salvos followed into Iraqi airspace. U.S. troops have been repositioned across Iraq, Syria, and Qatar. The conflict Trump pledged would last just days has now stretched into weeks.
This outcome was entirely predictable. Trump’s pattern of applying maximum pressure began with his 2025 National Security Presidential Memorandum, reimposing sweeping sanctions and cutting inspectors out of Iran. After Iran was found non-compliant by the IAEA in mid-June, Israel launched its own strikes on June 13. Tehran was already enriched for renewal when Trump authorized U.S. strikes. With no diplomatic framework left, the U.S. turned to bombardment.
Not only was diplomacy dismantled, allies were shut out too. European diplomats learned of the strikes only after the fact. NATO leaders privately complained during the summit that they had been left in the dark. Congress has called hearings, questioning the legal and strategic rationale. Military analysts and Democratic Representative Jim Himes warned that this gamble could cost American lives and risk a wider war.
Trump claimed the outcome would prevent Iran from ever rebuilding. Instead what occurred is exactly the opposite. With inspectors shut out, enriched uranium stockpiled, uranium facilities intact, Iran already plans to restore full capability within six months. Their parliament voted to close the Strait of Hormuz, another major escalation with global economic impact. Oil markets spiked then steadied — but the threat remains.
Trump sold this as peace through strength, but it is escalation through isolation. It has placed U.S. forces back into active danger. It has enraged global allies. It has dismantled oversight of nuclear programs. And it has empowered Iran’s most intransigent factions.
This is not leadership. It is impulsive theater with real consequences. The nuclear threat is alive. The diplomatic track is gone. The military is back on high alert. American soldiers and sailors are in harm’s way. The Strait of Hormuz may close. Oil prices may surge again. All because the playbook was more optics than strategy.

Unfortunately he created a new open door for Iran. He gave them a two week notice via Truth Social. Many are saying it will take Iran 6 months to rebuild their centrifuge system. I give it 60-90 days at most and US will be on high alert. I remember 9/11, I buried my father on that date. Hijacking planes was not difficult then and with FAA downside, I don't want to fathom the possibilities now.
What utter incompetence. He needs to be impeached for his crimes. He doesn't have a working brain cell in his head, but still his senate keep kissing his a_s. What has this country come to? Where are the men and women that are supposed to stand up for our Constitution, protect the US against this president? They're so busy sucking up that they wouldn't know the truth from a hole in the ground. I have never been so disgusted in my life.
