We are watching two uniquely corrupt men trying to leverage all of the corrupt tools at their disposal to inflict maximum damage on each other.
Trump is threatening to leverage the executive branch to tear away Elon‘s contracts and make his business life a living hell.
Elon is threatening to leverage his vast wealth of to primary Republicans, and is using ownership of X to dominating the attention economy with anti-Bill posts.
Now, Donald Trump just refused to rule out deporting Elon Musk.
Standing on the White House lawn, moments before boarding Air Force One to visit the new migrant detention site chillingly dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz," Trump was asked if Musk could be deported. His response? “I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look.”
Let’s be clear what that means. Elon Musk, one of Trump’s biggest donors, is now in Trump’s crosshairs for using the empire he built to torch Trump’s flagship legislation. In a single breath, Trump managed to threaten deportation, accuse Musk of fraudulently taking billions in subsidies, and suggest that “Doge,” Musk’s own meme-driven monster, might come back to destroy him.
"You know what Doge is. Doge is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?"
He meant it as a jab. It hit like a mirror.
Because while Trump accuses Musk of losing control of his monster, the same is happening in reverse. Elon Musk helped resurrect Donald Trump’s online presence, boosted his brand, and supported his campaign with money and algorithmic reach. Now he’s turning that power against him hard.
In the past week alone, Elon’s feed on X has become a scorched-earth campaign against Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill.” He’s threatened to primary every Republican who supports it. He’s posted viral memes, data charts, and debt ceiling warnings. He’s racked up hundreds of millions of views doing it.
One of the richest men on Earth, who once boosted Trump’s return to politics, is now nuking the same party he once bankrolled. Trump knows it.
“Elon can lose a lot more than that.”
That is a direct threat from the President of the United States to his largest donor. It is about a bill, attention, and power.
Trump claims that without subsidies, Musk would have to “head back to South Africa.” Musk, in turn, threatens to create a new political party and launch primaries against the entire GOP.
It is hard to write a better scene of political cannibalism.
It does not end there. The irony in Trump’s quote about Doge turning on Elon cuts both ways. Trump’s monster is not a meme coin. It is Elon Musk himself.
Trump helped Musk gain proximity to power. Musk then used that access to dominate the online attention economy. Now, in a twisted turn, Musk is using that dominance to sabotage Trump’s own presidency. Meanwhile, Trump’s response is to leverage the Executive Branch itself by hinting at deportation, attacking EV subsidies, and smearing Musk on a personal level.
The reality is this. We are watching two corrupt men try to leverage every corrupt tool they have collected to destroy each other. Trump is weaponizing the federal government to hurt Musk. Musk is weaponizing his tech empire to burn Trump’s agenda to the ground.
Each monster is eating its creator.
They deserve it.
Let them fight. Do not lose sight of the damage they do in the process.
Both of these men have hollowed out institutions—government and tech alike—in pursuit of unchecked power. Now that power is turning inward.
Trump’s legacy is an unstable Republican Party caught between loyalty and chaos. Musk’s is an internet platform descending into disinformation and rage farming. Neither man is the savior they sold themselves to be.
Now, they are dragging each other down.

Watching these two power-deranged hyenas (apologies to all normal hyenas) gear up for a combat of wills and conniving is something else, even if it was fated to happen at one point. There can only be one of them; hopefully, they will end up making it neither of them.
