Congress won’t hold Musk accountable—so the people must

Elon Musk drew thunderous boos yesterday when U.S. Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Ga.) mentioned his name at a town hall, prompting comments from constituents, including:

“Tyranny is rising in the White House, and a man has declared himself our king. So, I would like to know—rather, the people would like to know—what you, Congressman, and your fellow congressmen, are going to do to rein in the megalomaniac in the White House?”

I’ll get straight to the point: Scenes like this should become more and more common. The White House may call Musk a “true patriot,” but he is not a government official. Nothing about the world’s richest man infiltrating the federal government and passing our data to a band of unkempt young men mingling with cybercrime operations is normal. This man does not have the American people’s best interests in mind. He isn’t volunteering his time to better the world. He is a malignant narcissist—an overgrown child who sees the country and Trump as his latest toy set. His goal isn’t to improve the nation for the future; it’s to cause chaos, and Congress is letting him.

We have a system of checks and balances for a reason: to prevent abuses of power. But the 119th Congress seems to have tossed that principle aside, creating a void we must fill with opposition before more loyalists seize it. With political involvement more visible than ever on the national stage, it’s never been easier to make a difference in your community, no matter how red it is. Don’t let the oligarchs gaslight you into accepting this—the majority of Americans are on your side.

Rep. McCormick represents a deep-red Georgia district and won by a supermajority. Despite this, members of his community aren’t just opposed to what’s happening—they’re actively making their voices heard. Don’t let Musk’s takeover of America be normalized in your community. He and everything he stands for must be vehemently opposed in every district, no matter its size.
