A child asked Karoline Leavitt how many people Trump has fired, and she lied to them while giggling.
This comes right after over a dozen Americans died in storms because Trump thought it would be a brilliant idea to fire NWS and NOAA employees who alert us 24/7, keeping our communities safe.
Five former NWS directors warned that the "worst nightmare" would be that weather forecast offices become so understaffed that there is a needless loss of life due to lackluster warnings. Kentucky just saw 28 people die in a severe storm.
Let’s set the record straight. Trump has fired a lot of people, and Americans are dying because of it.
Federal Workforce Layoffs
The White House has not provided an official total, but reporting suggests that over 200,000 federal employees across multiple agencies have had their roles slashed in the opening months of 2025.
Inspectors General
At least 17 inspectors general—some of whom Trump himself appointed during his first term—have been fired across various agencies.
High-Level Firings
The director of the National Security Agency (NSA), Air Force Gen. Tim Haugh, was abruptly fired in April 2025, along with his civilian deputy, Wendy Noble.
Agency-Specific Layoffs
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA): About 400 employees fired, mainly in probationary roles.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): Over 300 probationary employees terminated.
Department of Defense: Plans announced to fire about 5,400 probationary employees, with a hiring freeze and further cuts of 5–8% of the civilian workforce.
Department of Agriculture: 5,600 employees fired, including 1,200 at the Natural Resources Conservation Service and 3,400 at the U.S. Forest Service.
Department of the Interior: About 2,300 employees fired, including 1,000 from the National Park Service.
Department of Veterans Affairs: Over 2,400 employees dismissed, including more than 1,000 probationary staff in February 2025.
Department of Health and Human Services: About 5,200 probationary employees terminated, including 1,300 from the CDC and others from the NIH, with a further 20,000 jobs cut from the department announced in March 2025.
Department of the Treasury (IRS): 6,000–7,000 probationary employees fired, including at least 120 from the Large Business and International division.
Department of Homeland Security: More than 400 positions eliminated, including over 200 at FEMA and 130 at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
Department of Energy: Around 2,000 employees fired, including at the National Nuclear Security Administration
USAID: Over 10,000 staffers placed on leave as part of plans to shutter the agency.
Karoline Leavitt doesn’t care about the truth, and sees no issue lying to children. We’re here to set the record straight. If you appreciate this work, consider grabbing a paid subscription to power and sustain this free content.
Leave it to the magas to start the brainwashing and indoctrination early.
Glad you're swinging for the bleachers with every horse apple this administration pitches at us. It's always good to remind your viewers and readers of what the American Dream used to be and which party did the most to help them achieve it and wants to continue to do so. American greed is what's robbed the young of healthcare, affordable education, loans and grants for small business start-ups, affordable housing, free tax filing, and on and on.
Sociopaths, all of them. Job requirement.
