I like that: CalExit! Secede or quit giving the fed government any money until things change. We can give what we owe then. They treat us like garbage for no reason, but love our money!

I have been curious about what would happen if California got support from Canada, Mexico, or China in their efforts to secede and negotiate better trade deals with those countries.

Has any Californian signed this recently?? It's on the same # of signature, and they need a hëll of a lot more signatures before the deadline to make the cut. If Cali leaves the union, it might give precedence for other blue/liberal states to do the same.

It would be nice to not be beholden to the electoral college. I mean it's not like California has never had a Republican governor. But at least it's based on a popular vote and if they don't work out, ask Gray Davis what happens then.

Adam Jaxn,

A number of years ago, a long time online friend explained to me what the Electoral College was all about. As an Aussie, I was absolutely gob-smacked. To those of us outside of the USA this seems rather strange for 538 people deciding an election.

She imparted a lot more information aside from what's written at the Archives.

So I do understand why you mentioned what you did.

What satisfaction do these people get from upsetting people that they do not know and will never know?

IMO those people have 💩 for 🧠 and are totally wasting their life!

Hope those strong words are not too late for our country - However they are WAY TOO LATE for the immigrants being disappeared off the streets, the families torn apart, the elderly & children & sick losing their healthcare, the federal employees who lost their jobs, the us government's destruction, the destruction of science, education & the environment, women's rights & the rule of law - its a little late. Glad to hear it - but our dems helped with the destruction by their need for decorum, their lazy governance & their quiet acceptance of money in politics. Going to be a while before any of this is made right - in the mean time excuse me while I call it like I see it.

Quantum Kitty's avatar

To be honest, I don't even try anymore. They are not interested in facts – they are not interested in science – they are not interested in anything not happening in their own backyard. They lack critical thinking skills, and are hell bent on making someone pay & that someone is poor immigrants. They don't understand that corporate America and the wealthy have robbed them blind. They don't understand that leadership both democratic and Republican have allowed this to happen. I could go into a long soliloquy about how that occurred, but you probably already know. We've watched Democrats roll over time and time again, even in presidential elections just to keep the peace. And now here we are.

They think that someone else will pay the price. Freeloaders.

Expand full comment
Quantum Kitty's avatar

Actually, it's the corporations and the wealthy who are the freeloaders – they are the welfare Queens. And because of citizens United, Democrats have kept their mouth shut about this and it's coming back to haunt everyone. Magas know that they're not getting their fair share and they are right. And leadership in this country has sold them down the river and so they are lashing out at the weakest amongst us - immigrants. Their vote for Trump was a vote for hate, a vote for cruelty, a vote for racism, a vote for bigotry.

Deputizing non trained personnel, IRS agents to lay traps for those who are hard working & paying their taxes - make no mistake this is nazi germany - every black & brown skin person will be hunted like animals. Why arent our democrat leadership suing her for civil fights violations or whatever they can find to stop this? All I hear is we're waiting for elections - ha ha ha - the trump regime has already past the rubicon & lawlessness is the norm - what elections? We will not be able to recognize our own country come election time. Extreme times call for extreme measures - time to act is now - not 2026. I'm not elected to lead - they are & they are screwing around with my country. Time to call out EVERY OLIGARCH who supported this vile regime & use their power because if we're going to allow money to run us into the ground then use it to stop the flow of dollars to their pockets. Call them out by name & stop aggrandizing the likes of bezos, musk, thier, zuckerberg, et.al, marching is not going to work unless it hits the oligarchs in the pocketbook so they will put pressure on this regime. SHUT OFF THE MONEY SPIGOT NOW!!

I've always said, blue 🔵 states should go on federal strike, don't pay into federal taxes. Now it's time to put that thought into action. We would witness the collapse of red state economies in real time. Most of us would be willing to pay extra in state tax, in place of what we were paying federally. Maga would certainly be okay with that, until they realize how fast their ship 🚢⚓ is sinking, while we are watching from dry land.🏝️

P.s. I'm sorry for the Dems that live in red states. You shouldn't have to suffer. None of us should have to suffer. Maga voted tRump in to 'make us suffer', they of course suffer right along with us (but won't admit it), and consider themselves martyred victims in the process.🙄🤦🏽‍♀️🙂‍↔️

The era of polite resistance is over.

Democrats are the party that builds, governs, and lifts people up…the GOP and MAGA are a party of wrecking balls, shameless greed, and moral bankruptcy. While we play by the rules, they rewrite them daily in permanent marker.

Enough….of the rhetoric

It's time to match their intensity with our integrity, their chaos with our conviction. Not by becoming them….but by finally unleashing the full force of truth they've been dodging for decades. The gloves aren't coming off …they're being replaced with iron. We will bury them in facts, drown them in turnout, and outfight them with the one weapon they'll never have: an actual moral compass.

I am a dual citizen of Australia & the US and my home state is blood-red Florida for which I grieve. Florida is extremely vulnerable to hurricanes and FEMA has pulled the fat out of the fire more times than I can count in my 73 years. But the blue states are right to remove access to the teat of endless blue dollars keeping red states from drowning. Reap/sow, it is time to let the deep red voters pay for their ignorance.

Were I the governor of a blue state, there'd be NO tax monies going to this fascist federal government. Now, if only Democrats would collectively grow a spine each and fight back against the MAGGATs in the Senate and Congress, we might survive 4 years of Trump. It's an uphill battle with a Supreme Court that is as backasswards and corrupt as can be (thinking here of Alito & Thomas in particular) excepting the liberal justices, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan & Ketanji Brown Jackson, who do a mighty job of being reasonable and erudite.
